Quality is climbing the hill.

That's the tagline in Burgundy these days.  With climate change changing the average growing season and raising overall temperatures, winemakers are looking higher up the slopes to find cooler growing conditions.

This has led to an explosion of interest in the regions known as the Hautes Côtes de Beaune and the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, and the concomitant 'discovery' of the best 'terroir' and vineyards.

We've written about it several times already, and our recent blog post is attached here below.

But don't just take my word for it.
Here's an article that came out a couple of weeks back that puts a nice spin on the subject Searching-for-burgundys-next-grands-crus

Want to try some of these wines from Elden Selections' producers?

2 bottles each of:

Bernard and Florian Regnaudot Hautes Côtes de Beaune Red 2019
Although the vineyards are just outside the village of Maranges there certainly is a different character to this 'Hautes Côtes de Beaune' when compared to the other wines in our collection. We recommend a fun side by side comparison and you will detect the Terroir difference we celebrate here in Burgundy. The fruit is more prominent, with deeper notes of red berries. Rose petals with some background earthy notes emerge although blanketed with bright acidity, soft tannin notes of white pepper transcend into the finish.

Elodie Roy Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Beaune Rouge 2018
Bursting with aromas of raspberries and cherries, this Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune is medium-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a core of ripe fruit, lively acids and melting tannins. Expressive and charming, this refreshing red will drink well young.

Julien Cruchandeau Hautes Côtes de Nuits Red 'Les Cabottes' 2018
Tank raised.  12.5% alcohol. Vineyard in transition: half of it is 60 years old; the other half a new plantation 6 years old. The two parts are fermented separately then assembled in to one cuvee.  2018 gave him lovely phenolic maturity, so he did a slow cold maceration.  The result is enormous fruit and a wine accessible now. Beautiful Pinot Noir!
