Our team has spent many years discovering special vineyards and working with exceptional and passionate winemakers, gleaning what they have learned over the generations. Evenings spent shivering around a barrel in quiet winter cellars, listening and tasting how to see the future in a hard new wine. And years watching a generation pass as young vines become old vines and old ideas become new again. We bring you not just wines from masterful winemakers, we bring you their best wines, wines that we follow from vineyard to bottle, vintage to vintage. The very wines that we choose to put in our own cellar. But we bring much more than that. We take you into the vineyards, into the cellars and into the very life of Burgundy so that you too can learn as we have learned. One cork at a time. One question at a time. One glass at a time. And in a place where our knowledge and enthusiasm opens doors that are not open to just anyone. Here follows a brief introduction to our wine team:

Dennis Sherman has worked his way around Burgundy since the summer of 1983 first grape harvesting near Avignon with his wife Ellie and graduated to serving guests aboard Le Papillon great food and small-production Burgundy which, at the time, was little known outside of France and certainly not available in the US at the time. Human nature being what it is, however, it wasn’t long before requests came from guests who wanted to ship these wines back home to the US. It didn’t take much encouragement to bow to the demand. It was an idea that had been brewing for some time. In fact it quickly became a labor of love and the internet propelled the mission forward. Imbued with a strong belief and love of wine, developing life-long relationships with the winemakers and their families coupled with the appreciation and enthusiasm of our clients has taken burgundywine.com to a level way beyond the commercial. It has become a lifestyle. Burgundy is our passion. He is a professional wine taster and writes regularly and avidly on the subject. He is also a specialist ‘gastronomic’ tour guide, with experience throughout Europe.
Dan Jones has a strong history in the wine industry in Burgundy and manages the Tasting Room for burgundywine.com. In addition to delighting clients who visit the Tasting Room, Dan works with our winemakers tasting and buying wine as part of our team.
Stephen Lenehan has been part of the wine team for 10 years and along with his wife Lilly shares the passion for Burgundy. As well as accomplished wine professionals both are accomplished professional chefs, Lilly specializing in pastry. Stephen has won many professional accolades including the Panel of Chefs award for excellence and is a Member of the Euro-Toques Food Council of Ireland. On the wine side he has completed the WSET Educator Training Programme where he qualified with distinction. He was awarded the top mark in class for each of the three WSET (Wine Spirits Education Trust) levels. These days Stephen uses his skills to manage the Burgundy Wine Club, including our User Choice club and Library Club, selecting and curating the wines. He also works with clients who are looking to build their cellars.

JoAnn Chew has been with us since we started. She handles our customer service for clients all over the United States providing a full range of advice on wines and wine care including storage and shipping. Residing in Sonoma County wine country with her husband Andrew and two children JoAnn takes care of clients managing order processing, wine club processing, inventory control, email marketing, website management and customer service. We are happy she joined our team helping us do all that and more at burgundywine.com.

Their partnership and inspiration have enabled burgundywine.com to flourish by bringing it to the Internet. Their support, creativity and counsel have made the dream come true. Dubliners by birth, they live in America, splitting their time between Florida and Maine, and travel regularly to Ireland and Burgundy.
