Jean-Jacques Girard Bourgogne Rouge 2018
Jean-Jacques Girard's family has been making wine in the Savigny-les Beaune valley for 500 years, so it's not surprising to find that his regional appellation Bourgogne Rouge drinks like a little Savigny. Blackcurrant freshness, a touch of earth subsoil, a supple, easy structure and bull's-eye line on through the whole from the attack to the finish.
Domaine Jean Marechal Bourgogne 2018
Assembled from wine from two different parcels of appellation Bourgogne that are situated in the limits of Mercurey, you could call this a ‘little Mercurey’, the terroir and black fruits so resemble the village appellation. Severe pruning limits the yields (45hl/ha) reinforces the deep Pinot character of the fruit.
Chateau Cary-Potet Bourgogne Rouge 2018
A limpid ruby red that catches the light, with raspberry, red currant and even blueberry notes, this is a youthful wine that is easy to drink, full of bursting fruit and discreet tannins.
Gilles Bouton Saint Aubin 1er Cru 'en Creot' 2018
Garnet robe with bright fruits, raspberry, black currant, black cherry, seasoned with spice and coffee. Full bodied but silky with a lively fruit finish.
Domaine Michel Arcelain Bourgogne 2016
The grapes for this Bourgogne all come from the commune of Pommard, the climat of ‘Les Lormes’, ’Seurets’ and ‘Crenilles’.
Hand harvested and 100% de-stemmed. The wine is matured in oak barrels for 22 months, however no new oak is used in order to protect the fruit profile freshness. Its aromas are red fruit, soft tannin with some hints of tertiary notes of underwood and spices. The palate is cranberries with a background of cassis, white pepper, rose, tea leaf tannin and bright minerality. The finish is long, lingering and balanced. A great introduction that demands more exploration of the producer. The domaine is committed to a reasoned culture from vines to wines. The philosophy is also to use traditional and modern methods to produce a wine as natural as possible. The wines of Domaine Arcelain are timeless classics, never brash, they do drink well young however hidden within these powerfully subtle wines there is an immense ability to age and improve.
Jean Claude Rateau Beaune 'Prevoles 2018
Floral, round and structures, dense and full with great tension and a long long finish on the fruit.
Domaine Borgeot Bourgogne Blanc 2017
Floral and fresh, with green apple acidity and body. Minerality picks up the acidity and carries it to a long finish. Elegant expression of aligoté doré from a single vineyard. Great aperitif wine, but has what it takes to age.
Julien Cruchandeau Aligote 'Le Village 2019
From 50 year old vines in the hills above Nuits St Georges, this Aligote is fresh and spicy with green apple acidity. Bright, crisp almost crunchy fruit and a deep, floral lingering finish carried out long by the limestone minerality.
Domaine Oudin Chablis 2017
Classic sweet river rock minerality and floral freshness, this is a meticulous perfectionists’ Chablis ‘tout-court’ (as the locals call the ‘village’ appellation). This wine is at its peak now and will remain there for another 3-4 years. A lovely introduction to the Domaine Oudin style.
Domaine Felix Saint Bris 'Cuvee Sainte Claire' 2017
Discreet Sauvignon notes throughout. Grassy and slightly herbal of thyme. Biscuity. The famous gooseberry, but also lime peel, pear and green apple. Smoky minerality, slightly saline. Along mineral finish on fruit and spice. Nice one.
Chateau de Vergisson Saint Veran 2019
Bottled in March 2018, this wine is pure pleasure. Raised in stainless steel tanks, it’s pure, open, fresh, with a noseful of rich, ripe fruit that snaps with mineralty, and a mouthful of freshness that’s like biting into the grape bunch. Charming every-day drinking Burgundy!
Agnes Paquet Bourgogne Chardonnay 2018
Raised partly in steel with a small percentage of oak, this Chardonnay from strong limestone soils in the Hautes Cotes is crunchy, like biting in to the grape bunch, with fantastic freshness and good acidity on the finish. Mineral and pure.
Note: These wines are sourced from small producers, and so quantities are very limited. If ever we run out of a particular wine, we will substitute a wine of equal or greater value.
