DOMAINE ROYET COTES DU COUCHOIS MIXED CASE
Those of you who have been to Domaine de Cromey know that we are in the heart of the Cotes du Couchois, vineyards that are the continuation of the Santenay-Maranges hooked tip of the southern Cotes de Beaune. And like Santenay and Maranges before it, the Couchois appellation has come of age.
This is due to the dedication of a handful of producers who have bucked tradition and seen the potential of these vineyards that, until now, were always deemed too high up to produce ripe Pinot Noir.
Welcome to Burgundy in the throes of climate change. As they say these days, 'quality is climbing the hill'.
And while we see similar results coming out of the Hautes Cotes, nothing is quite so exciting to see as the Couchois coming to be. And we live right in the midst of it! In fact, the vineyard at Cromey is classified appellation Cotes du Couchois So we have our fingers on the pulse even more so than usual!
Meet the Domaine Royet. The locomotive of the Couchois appellation.
