My friend, Pascal Marchand, is famous.
You probably know the story by now.
He's famous because he stood Burgundy on its head,
and changed the course of a generation.

We've been presenting his wines under one name or another since 1987. And now here we are, finally, with a tiny allocation of a half dozen of his highly sought-after Grand Cru from the vaunted 2022 vintage.

Marchand-Tawse Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2022
The Clos de Vougeot is 125 acres of walled-in Grand Cru, perhaps the most famous of all of Burgundy’s great red wines. But there is no secret that with such a large expanse of land covering so many different soil types, that Clos Vougeots differ radically one from the other. And with over 80 different producers making Clos de Vougeot, it's a minefield, not a vineyard. The only way to navigate is to know who made the wine and where the parcel of vines is located. The Marchand-Tawse parcel is in prime real-estate, up near the chateau itself and on the Echezeaux side. The soil is thin on top of limestone bedrock. The rest is done by Pascal Marchand!

Marchand-Tawse Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2022
Rare Grand Cru from Marchand-Tawse - only a few bottles available. Spicy and dark berry fruit, earthy and floral at the same time. Firm but fine tannin spine with great balance through to a classy and pretty finish.

Marchand-Tawse Clos Saint Denis Grand Cru 2022
Spicy berry attack. Wild and earthy with weight and volume, rich and powerful, but with impressive balance and a long deep finish.

Marchand-Tawse Mazoyeres-Chambertin Grand Cru 2022
Marchand-Tawse style always shows expressive fruit, refined structure, and careful oak integration, thereby showcasing each vineyard's terroir. The color is garnet catching brilliant flecks of light. The nose is so Burgundian, with strawberry, cherry and black currant fruit, and floral notes with hints of spice. The attack is elegant and refined. Supple tannins and freshness from the acidity lead to a long nuanced finish, showing both power and finesse.

Marchand-Tawse Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru 2022
This Grand Cru is situated at the southern end of the stretch of the Chambertins, near to Morey-St. Denis. Which perhaps accounts for the name ‘charmes, an apt description of the wine it produces. As is often the case in the sector, the soil is thin here and the minerality ever-present. Black cherry and, well, charming balance make this one of the earlier drinking Grand Cru Chambertins. But don’t be fooled by the softer, easier style, this is a Chambertin with structure that will hold on to its youthful charm for years.

Marchand-Tawse Corton Grand Cru 2022
Classic Corton ‘terroir’, with rich, iron oxide, well-drained soil, mostly from the parcel ‘Le Rognet. Deep color, a powerful nose powerful of candied fruit and spice. Great structure and a velvety texture counterbalance tannin and acidity. And a very complex, cerebral finish.
