Domaine Borgeot Puligny-Montrachet ' Vieilles Vignes' 2018
The ‘Golden triangle’ of great white Burgundy is Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet and, arguably the most distinctive of the three, Puligny-Montrachet. This 'old vine' village appellation wine displays great finesse and elegance. Pure and bright, with glints of white gold. Orchard blossoms and peaches make the bouquet. Silky and long, ending on both flowers and fruit. A great example of both Domaine Borgeot and Puligny-Montrachet.
Domaine Gilles Saint Aubin 1er Cru 'Murgers des Dents de Chiens' 2019
Gilles has two different parcels in this, the best known of the Saint-Aubin premier crus. One with old vines, situated near the Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru ‘Les Garennes’ (which he also makes), and the other near Puligny 1er Cru ‘Folatieres’. He makes these wine in double-sized barrels, 40% new oak, to tame the tannins. There is a deep, almost Meursault quality to the Dents de Chien, spicy and complex. Great continuity from attack, through mid-palate and on to a superb finish.
Domaine Oudin Chablis 2020
Classic sweet river rock minerality and floral freshness, this is a meticulous perfectionists’ Chablis ‘tout-court’ (as the locals call the ‘village’ appellation). This wine is at its peak now and will remain there for another 3-4 years. A lovely introduction to the Domaine Oudin style.
Louis Picamelot Crémant de Bourgogne ‘Les Reipes’
Visually, its color is bright. The bubble is a gush of finesse. The freshness of the citrus notes, the complexity of the Chardonnay and and the subtle balance between delicacy and aromatic strength make this a wine more appropriate to food than to aperitif. Elegant and generous, this Crémant will be perfect for meals.
