JEAN-JACQUES GIRARD ALOXE-CORTON 2018 CASE
The pretty village of Aloxe is dominated by the Corton hill, nestled between the neighboring communes of Ladoix-Serrigny and Pernand-Vergelesses. Aloxe-Corton comes from the Celtic "al" meaning "high place”.
About five centuries ago, Jean Girard began to cultivate vines in Savigny-Les-Beaune. Seven generations later, Jean-Jacques Girard created his own estate to perpetuate the family tradition. In 2008, his son Vincent joined him on the farm.
Today, the family farm covers about fifteen hectares. It produces around 100,000 bottles per year. Its agriculture is based on a deep respect for the land and the environment. For the elaboration of these wines, it reconciles traditional know-how and new technologies.
Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard cultivates the Aligoté, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varieties. It exploits a rich and varied terroir which extends over the municipalities of: Savigny-Les-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses, Chorey-Les-Beaune, AloxeCorton, Beaune, Volnay, Pommard.
Very limited supply remaining of the 2018 vintage. Full 12 bottle case includes Ground Shipping.
Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard Aloxe-Corton 2018
With this Aloxe Corton, Jean-Jacques comes roaring out of his home valley of Savigny les Beaune. Where his Savigny is floral, spicy and elegant up front, the first nose of this Aloxe Corton is powerful, animal. Then it's a mouthful of black fruit, with the elegance rolling in on the mid-palate and sticking around for the finish and the reflection. This is another register for Jean-Jacques Girard, who, you will find, has perfect pitch!
