REDS
Michel Arcelain Beaune 1er Cru 'Clos des Mouches' 2016

Even though the best-known Beaune 'Clos des Mouches' (from Domaine Drouhin) is a Chardonnay and sits on a pedestal on the world stage, most Clos des Mouches is red. The best known, and arguably the best parcel of vines on the slopes above Beaune, it can be either white or red. So put Michel Arcelain's perfect Pinot vines in a vineyard of this caliber, and you get something special. Michel comes from the old school. He thinks that women like his Clos des Mouches and men like his Pommard. But be real! What he really means is that his Clos des Mouches is elegant, lacy and fine, fresh and floral, with impeccable balanced intensity.  And it is!This is an example of meticulous winemaking in a world-class parcel of vines.

Capitain-Gagnerot Ladoix 1er Cru 'La Micaude' 2018
The Capitain Ladoix 1er Cru 'La Micaude' is a 'monople', meaning they own the entire 4 acres of vines themselves. This is and has been for nearly 30 years, our benchmark Pinot Noir. Roger Capitain used this wine to show us that if you are looking for color in Pinot Noir, you are asking the wrong question.  He showed us here that a wine can be delicate and powerful at the same time, And he showed us that pretty little red fruits can age as well (and usually better) than concentrated extracted fruit bombs.  Racy and well-structured, 'La Micaude' is at the same time discreet with delicate black berry fruits. It's one of those wine that will surprise you as it ages, growing in elegance and nuance with each passing year.

Domaine Borgeot Santenay Vieilles Vignes 2017
Year in, year out, this Borgeot Santenay 'Vieilles Vignes' is one of our favorites. We've been drinking this wine consistently since we first met Pascal Borgeot back in 1989. The first Borgeot wine we tasted was his Santenay VV in the 1985 vintage. It was beautiful even in its youth, and we drank it lustily. Have done ever since. Pascal surprised us a few years back with a secret stash of the 1985, and we re-lived our youth in a glass. This is our image of Pinot Noir from the Cotes de Beaune. It ranks as one of the best deals in Red Burgundy on this site...which explains why it is always among the first to sell out

WHITES
Domaine Jean Fery Pernand-Vergelesses 'Les Combottes' 2018

Pernand 'Les Combottes' lies in a heat trap above and behind the village of Pernand-Vergelesses. In a sense it is the last vineyard in the line leading off of Corton-Charlemagne, which explains why you often see this village appellation bottled as a single vineyard lieu-dit. The Domaine Jean Fery has its roots in Echevronne, just above the village of Pernand-Vergelesses, so this is, in a sense, their signature white. Floral and mineral, uniquely Pernand, there's a freshness and a purity that is fleshy and fruity but well-cut and firm.

Chateau de Vergisson Pouilly-Fuisse 2018
These are vines from Stephanie’s part of the valley, assembled from several parcels from the base of the rock at Solutré. This is classic Pouilly-Fuisse. Pure gold, with lemon-drop fruit, a touch of tannin to give it structure, and lovely acidity.  So round and balanced, you want to chew it.

Julien Cruchandeau Hautes Cotes de Nuits Blanc 2018
Very low yields for the appellation (30hl/ha).  Raised in 50% steel tank and 50% wood (with 10% new oak in the mix). Orange flower and honey, rich but fresh and open.  Long pleasant floral finish.

Note: These wines are sourced from small producers, and so quantities are very limited. If ever we run out of a particular wine, we will substitute a wine of equal or greater value.
