Domaine Michel Arcelain Bourgogne 2019
The grapes for this Bourgogne all come from the commune of Pommard, the climat of ‘Les Lormes’, ’Seurets’ and ‘Crenilles’.
Hand harvested and 100% de-stemmed. The wine is matured in oak barrels for 22 months, however no new oak is used in order to protect the fruit profile freshness.
Its aromas are red fruit, soft tannin with some hints of tertiary notes of underwood and spices. The palate is cranberries with a background of cassis, white pepper, rose, tea leaf tannin and bright minerality. The finish is long, lingering and balanced. A great introduction that demands more exploration of the producer.
The domaine is committed to a reasoned culture from vines to wines. The philosophy is also to use traditional and modern methods to produce a wine as natural as possible. The wines of Domaine Arcelain are timeless classics, never brash, they do drink well young however hidden within these powerfully subtle wines there is an immense ability to age and improve.
