Raymond Boillot of the Domaine Albert Boillot in Volnay is a winemaker of some 40 harvests, and has 'pedigree' as an oenologist, having been the cellar master for the famous Beaune négociant house la Reine Pédauque in his day job. 

This, coincidentally, gives him an oblique connection with our Domaine de Cromey, because the previous owners of Cromey were the owners of Reine Pedauque, and so Raymond knew of the property well before we did!.

That said, we have known Raymond for a lot longer than we have been at Cromey, and we know his wines going back to the early 'paper-copy' newsletter days of Elden Selections.

Domaine Albert Boillet Pommard 1er Cru 'En Largilliere' 2018
'En Largilliere' is a beautifully situated Pommard premier cru just above Les Epenots.  The 2017 is expressive, with superlative round fruit that engulfs the palate, with just a touch of earth and smoke so you know it's a Pommard. Deep, long finish. A wine you can enjoy now, but which will reward any patience you might have.

Domaine Albert Boillet Volnay 'Les Petits Poisots' 2018
A single-vineyard Volnay from the heart of the village, this ‘Petits Poisots’ shows great Pinot fruit in its youth. Delicate Volnay fruit, floral (the typical violet notes of a Volnay),  supple but dense, mouth-wateringly bright, with a long, lingering fruit-driven finish. This is a wine that is charming now, and which will open progressively over the next 5 years. Buy a case and drink a bottle every 6 months over 6 years and you will see a great Pinot unfold.
