BURGUNDY WHITE CLUB HAUTES CASE
Enjoyed the bottles from your most recent wine club shipment? Elden Selections, as always, is devoted to helping you find bottles you’ll love. We’ve curated a special “Hautes Case” of wines you know and love from your previous shipment, with a special feature of wines that are currently drinking well that we know you’ll enjoy this time of year. This particular case is reminiscent of all the notes of spring: white flowers, minerality, bold citrus. Perfect to drink as the weather turns, to share as social season begins anew, or to tide you over until your next wine club shipment. Case includes two bottles of each wine - ground shipping always included.
Two bottles of each:
Jean Claude Rateau Hautes Côtes de Beaune 2018
Racy and bright, ripe aromas of lemon and almond, spiced pear and apple, and that hint of sweet river rock. The palate is balanced and has impressive length. The antithesis of fat, oaky Chardonnay, this is a real terroir wine and a great value.
Domaine Félix Saint Bris 'Cuvée Sainte Claire' 2017
Discreet Sauvignon notes throughout. Grassy and slightly herbal of thyme. Biscuity. The famous gooseberry, but also lime peel, pear and green apple. Smoky minerality, slightly saline. Along mineral finish on fruit and spice. Nice one.
Domaine Elise Villiers Vézelay 'Le Chevaliere' 2018 (sold out of Le Clos)
Pretty white floral notes and brioche. Dense and spicy, the attack is all fruit until the minerality kicks in in the mid palate. That’s where you notice the balance between richness and a fine linear acidity. Volume, intensity and elegance in the finish.
Jean Claude Rateau Beaune ‘Coucherias’ 2017
Pale gold with complex notes of white flowers, citrus and almond. Fresh and racy, balanced between fruit and acidity with great mineral length.
Jean Dauvissat Pere et Fils Chablis 1er Cru ‘Montmains’ 2016
Montmains, a Left Bank Chablis premier cru, is perhaps the best ‘all-around’ example of what Chablis should be. It comes from a very rocky soil which gives a very pronounced minerality with extraordinary power and good aging potential. At the same time, it is ample, full and round. It can be tight in its youth, but is characteristically exuberant and vivacious.
Domaine Félix Saint Bris 2018
Fresh and lively, with notes of citrus and the famous gooseberry. Bold attack and vivacious mid-palate, fruity and herbaceous.
