Domaine Borgeot Santenay 1er Cru 'Gravieres' 2020
Santenay 1er Cru 'Les Gravieres' can be either red or white. 'Gravieres' implies gravel, loose stony soil. And the upper part of the vineyard is such. This is excellent soil for Chardonnay, with one of the best expositions in the southern Cote d'Or. Distinctive 'Borgeot' style, mineral driven, with both ripe citrus and slight stone fruit profile, there is a smokey quality that leads into hazelnut and honey. The rocky terroir is evident in the long clean finish. Great value Premier Cru White.
Domaine Oudin Chablis 1er Cru 'Vaugiraut' 2020
An upper left bank premier cru that sits above the village of Chichée and to the south of Chablis itself, this Oudin Vaugiraut is a moment of pleasure with ripe fruit and gun-flint smoke. It’s floral and stony with a hint of salty sea breeze, pure and powerful and elegant.
Chateau Cary Potet Montagny 1er Cru 'Les Jardins' 2020
From the southern reaches of the Cote Chalonnaise, the wines of Montagny are among the best value in White Burgundy. With a unique and dusty minerality that many compare to a suave left-bank Chablis, the wines also profit from their southern position, so ripeness and maturity yield seductive and charming Chardonnay. This premier cru ‘Les Jardins’ is rich and grassy, with flinty minerality in the nose, and smoky minerality on the fruit. Lemon drop acidity and a touch of fat maturity are carried through the mid-palate onto a long mineral finish.
Domaine Gilles Bouton Chassagne Montrachet Voillenots Dessus Blanc 2020
The vineyard sits in the heart of Chassagne-Montrachet, actually the name is an old reference to the ‘Neighborhood’ due to the proximity to the village houses. Complex citrus notes transform into fresh just ripe peach with subtle notes of smoke and spice. This wine feels alive!!
Domaine Jean Féry Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune 'La Petite Heulée 2020
Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune " La Petite Heulée " shows a pale yellow robe that glistens with silver. The nose is citric, with ripe white-fleshed pear. The toastiness of the oak comes next. And then a note of struck-match. The mouth is incisive, crystalline, fresh, with notes of ripe citrus, ending with a long generous finish. This Hautes Cotes de Beaune is vinified in French oak barrels with a part in ceramic egg-shaped vats. The maturation continues in these different containers until 12 months. At the end of the maturation, a light lenticular filtration is carried out before bottling.
Domaine Michel Rebourgeon Bourgogne Blanc 2020
From a tiny plot, less than half an acre. For those of you who know the area, it’s near the roundabout between Pommard and Beaune. Freshness, green apple and floral. Round, good depth and density.
Marchand-Tawse Bourgogne Blanc 2020
From parcels around Savigny-les Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses and the Hautes Cotes de Nuits, this is a cuvee designed to show Pascal Marchand’s vision of Chardonnay. Floral, with that Corton Mountain minerality, great acidity that makes it mouth-wateringly juicy and open. It’s ready. A lovely image of white from the middle reaches of the Cote d’Or.
Domaine Borgeot Bourgogne Blanc 2020
Floral and fruity bouquet, surprisingly dense and mineral in the attack. This is a gem of a simple white Bourgogne, drinking perfectly now.
Domaine Gilles Bouton Bourgogne Blanc 2020
Beautiful example of how good regional classified wines can be. The caveat is that the producer must be top quality, small production. Complex citrus on the attack, with good concentration, saline minerality merges with some white pepper into the finish.
Julien Cruchandeau Aligote 'Le Village' 2020
From 50 year old vines in the hills above Nuits St Georges, this Aligote is fresh and spicy with green apple acidity. Bright, crisp almost crunchy fruit and a deep, floral lingering finish carried out long by the limestone minerality.
Domaine Felix Saint Bris 'Cuvee Sainte Claire' 2020
Discreet Sauvignon notes throughout. Grassy and slightly herbal of thyme. Biscuity. The famous gooseberry, but also lime peel, pear and green apple. Smoky minerality, slightly saline. Along mineral finish on fruit and spice. Nice one.
Chateau de Vergisson Pouilly-Fuisse 2020
These are vines from Stephanie’s part of the valley, assembled from several parcels from the base of the rock at Solutré. This is classic Pouilly-Fuisse. Pure gold, with lemon-drop fruit, a touch of tannin to give it structure, and lovely acidity. So round and balanced, you want to chew it.
