Hospices de Nuits auction

Inside the 2026 Hospices de Nuits Auction

Auction date: Sunday, March 8, 2026

Join us in Nuits-Saint-Georges for the 2026 vintage.

Most people know the great Hospices de Beaune auction. Fewer truly understand its quieter, older sibling in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Smaller in scale, yes—but for lovers of the Côte de Nuits, the Hospices de Nuits auction is one of Burgundy’s most rewarding insider events. Less spectacle, more substance. Less noise, more nuance.

Through burgundywine.com, we’ve been fortunate to participate not only in Beaune since 2013, but also in the Hospices de Nuits auctions in 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Those wines—especially from the Côte de Nuits—have proven just how special this sale can be when you know where to look.

On Sunday, March 8, we’ll be back in Nuits-Saint-Georges for the 2026 vintage, and once again we’re opening the door for a small group to join us.

This is the moment when insiders act—long before labels and scores enter the conversation.

Our aim this year is a Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru, raised by our good friend Pascal Marchand at Marchand-Tawse, right in Nuits-Saint-Georges. The wine could not be in more thoughtful hands.

As always, we won’t taste until shortly before the auction. But years of participation have made us true Hospices insiders, with access to the professional tastings attended by winemakers, oenologists, and Masters of Wine. By auction day, we will know exactly what we are targeting.

In recent years, we’ve secured outstanding Premier Cru barrels in the €20,000–€25,000 hammer price range. These are wines that, upon delivery a year or more later, typically retail in the $210–$240 per bottle range. That value alone makes participation compelling—but it’s only part of the story.

What you really gain is something rarer: the thrill of participating in a living Burgundian tradition, the pleasure of being inside one of the world’s great wine events, and the quiet satisfaction of backing a noble charitable cause.

How the consortium works

    •    1 barrel (228 liters)
    •    Target hammer price: ~€25,000
    •    Total estimated cost (auction fees, barrel, élevage, bottling, prep): ~€35,000 (≈ $40,000)

We structure the purchase into 6 shares:

    •    5 partners
    •    burgundywine.com retains one share for organization and stewardship

Each full share:

    •    $7,000
    •    48 bottles (4 cases of 12 × 750ml)

Half shares are available:

    •    $3,600
    •    24 bottles (2 cases of 12 × 750ml)

burgundywine.com will cover shipping to our West Coast warehouse. Final ground shipping and applicable state sales tax are additional and depend on delivery location.

The wine is typically shipped approximately 15 months after purchase.

This is, by nature, a limited and time-sensitive opportunity.
If you’d like to be involved, please let me know soon—March 8 will be here before we know it.

Join us.
A noble cause. A true insider Burgundy experience.
And one of the most enjoyable traditions we’ve built together at burgundywine.com.
