Buy A Barrel Share
Each November, the Hospices de Beaune wine auction attracts worldwide attention as Burgundy’s most celebrated charity wine event. The auction features wines made from vineyards donated to the Hospices over the centuries — wines crafted by Ludivine Griveau, the Hospices’ own winemaker, and sold by the barrel to benefit the local hospital.
Through burgundywine.com, you can participate in this tradition by purchasing a Barrel Share — becoming a co-owner in one of these rare and historic wines.
Each consortium consists of six partners, with burgundywine.com one of the partners, who collectively purchase one barrel at auction. Burgundywine.com handles everything: bidding, élevage (aging), bottling, labeling, and delivery.
The total cost of the barrel, including bidding and élevage, typically falls around €37,500. Divided among the partners, that equates to approximately $7,500 per share. Each share yields about 48 bottles of finished wine, shipped after 15–18 months of aging in the domaine’s cellars.
Barrel Shares are available now for the upcoming Hospices de Beaune 2025 Auction. Shares are limited, and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
